QUEEN LATIFAH – EST. $70 MILLION

It was said that Queen Latifah is the first to pronounce feminism in the hip-hop industry. Before claiming her spot as an actress and comedian, she came into the entertainment industry as a singer and rapper. Her first hit single, Ladies First, was from her debut album in 1989, All Hail to The Queen. She gained international success and won a Grammy Award with her single U.N.I.T.Y from her third album Black Reign released in 1993. Despite several controversies, Latifah was able to maintain her prominence as a singer.

She eventually widened her horizon, becoming an actress and talk show host as well. Among her film credits are Bringing Down the House, Hairspray, and Taxi. She eventually landed the starring role in the comedy, romance, and drama film, The Last Holiday. From 1999 to 2013, Latifah hosted her titular show, The Queen Latifah Show. As such, she is the first hip-hop act to receive a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
