JOHN MADDEN – EST. $220 MILLION
The former football coach and sportscaster is beloved by sports fans everywhere. Before retiring, John Madden made sure to leave a legacy of victory—winning a Super Bowl as the head coach for the Oakland Riders. Despite leaving his coaching career, he became a color commentator on NFL games for all 4 of the biggest American television networks, namely NBC Sports, Fox, CBS, and ABC.
His salary was so high that he earned more money than any player during the time. Eventually, his salary peaked at $8 million each year.
Even though John was making millions each season, he didn’t just get it from his coaching career. He receives millions of dollars in royalties each time they sell EA Sports’ Madden NFL Football video games. He gave rights to Electronic Arts for his voice and name to be used, which he then earned $150 million. Not many fans also know that he has also appeared in films. The former coach gets credit for making cameos in the movies Christine and Little Giants.
