DEREK JETER – EST. $200 MILLION

When it comes to retired athletes, many of them often end up as team owners themselves. Just look at Derek Jeter, for example. The former professional baseball shortstop, who spent 20 years of his time in the MLB with the New York Yankees, became a baseball executive and businessman after throwing in his uniform, and eventually pursued ownership for the Miami Marlins in 2017.

Derek, who is 46 years old now, retired in 2014 with over $266 million in career earnings from his salary in the league. His earnings ranked him fourth in the history of Major League Baseball.  Aside from earning through the sport, he is also considered one of the most heavily marketed athletes from his generation during his 20-year stretch with the New York Yankees—the sheer amount of product endorsements he had has helped him earn millions. Since 2017, he has been part-owner of the Miami Marlins, with 4% in investments to his name.
