OLIVIA COLMAN – BORN 1974

With her Oscar-winning performance as Queen Anne in The Favourite, Oscar-nominated acting in The Father, and role as Queen Elizabeth in The Crown, Olivia Colman has lately ascended to the (actual) throne of American entertainment. But for Brits—and U.K. fans—it’s a different story. Colman has long been a presence on British TV, even topping the Radio Times’ 2018 list of the most powerful persons.

Her investment is incredibly fulfilling from the audience’s perspective, both in her unquestionable talent and her reputation as a genuinely kind person. Her first acting role was for a character on The Office, and she later appeared in single episodes of Skins and Doctor Who. She then played Queen Elizabeth years before her appearance on The Crown. Her portrayal of Queen Anne is enthralling, made all the more so by her acceptance of the grotesque.
