BELINDA CARLISLE

Belinda Carlisle was the lead singer of the all-female band, the Go-Gos. They were among the most successful female groups in history, which led to Carlisle’s well-received solo career later on. The band debuted in 1978 and produced multiple chart-topping singles throughout their career. They are also given credit for popularizing new wave music in the United States. As of this writing, they have sold over seven million records globally.

The group disbanded in 1985, and following this, Carlisle launched her solo career. She is best known for the song “Heaven Is a Place on Ear.”

Since then, she has published a NY Times best-selling autobiography. The Go-Go’s have also gotten nominated for the Rock and Roll of Fame in 2021. Besides music, Carlisle also has investments in Animal People Alliance, an organization that cares for stray animals in Calcutta, India.
